About us | Company | History |
One of our forebear company was established in the 1906 that was named the Hungarian Ventilation works and Machine Works Plc., the other one was the Ventilation and Sheet material Factory. Both of the companies were securing industrial technological processes. The companies were developing well and supplied all the industrial factories in the food, textile, chemical and nuclear industries.
In 1994 due to the changed economical situation in Hungary, Ventilation Works Ltd. was established by private owners and bought the name of the forebear company. Ventilation Works Ltd. bought all the development and research achievements, patents, technical documentation, factory hall, machines, and instruments. Our company has a collection of over 30 thousand technical documentation/drawings of the air handling systems. Our company employ 20-50 people according to the actual orders.

Past
The history of our company goes back to 1906, when Miklos Hoffman established our predecessor company, the Hungarian Ventilation Works and Machine Factory Plc.

The history of our company goes back to 1906, when Miklos Hoffman established our predecessor company, the Hungarian Ventilation Works and Machine Factory Plc. (Magyar Szellőző Művek és Gépgyár Részvénytársaság). Our other predecessor company, the Ventilator and Sheet Metal factory of the Varga brothers, was established in the 1910. The product that were produced in these factories were mainly used for securing technological processes.
Before the World War I. on the same spot took place the Hungarian Aircraft Factory, which became the largest aircraft factory of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. This factory was producing the Brandenburg aircraft that is a 2-seater armed single-engine reconnaissance biplane which was the most modern reconnaissance airplane at that time.
After the World War I. the aircraft factory and all its equipments were disarmed, and inside the emptied factory and installation halls, the Hungarian Cloth factory and a carpenter workshop took place with an expo hall.

The Hungarian Ventilation works was the first factory after the World War where a worker could became a director. The owner of the company were missing during the World War, therefore the workers chose a director for the company among the workers. The company was secularized in 26 March 1948, the Sheet factory was secularized in 22 June 1948. In May 1949 the two predecessor company formed the new Ventilation Works in cooperation with smaller companies.
The factory went through a moving crisis but it satteled down at the current place in December 1949, and the manufacturing started in 1950.

In 1978, the planned production was over 2 7000 000 Euros and the company employed 2300 people - with the two factory in the capital and two in the countryside. The Ventilation Works’ main departments like (director, marketing, engineering and development, etc.) took place in the capital - Budapest.
The profile of Ventilation Works – which includes hundreds of products- consists of the following groups:
- for Mines: High performance mine ventilators
- for Thermal power plant: Flue gas exhaust and blower ventilator
- for Wood Industry: Exhaust and filter systems for Grinding dust and chip
- for Agriculture: thermo ventilators, hay dryer ventilators for hutch’s and barn’s heating, fibrous fodder dryer ventilator, paprika dryer device
- mill industry’s ventilators
- building exhaust equipments for communal places and warehouses
- workplace exhaust equipment for protection of the employees’ health and exhaust of welding gases, dust, and wet dust collectors for dusty workshops and foundry

In 1949-79 Ventilation Works produced the 50% of the Hungarian Aerotechnical machines; however there were more companies produces machines for the aero technology in Hungary. It is nationwide recognized that Ventilation Works has the longest and widest experience on this field. The company continuously widens its export and import market.
In the hope of export and import, the company built a business relationship with air handling system producer companies from the GDR(German Democratic Republic, now: Germany), Czechoslovakia (now: Czech republic and Slovakia) Poland, and the Soviet Union (now: mainly Russia). In 1971 the export was 187 000 Euros, in 1978 the export was over 575 000 Euros.
Ventilation Works bought several know-how from the western companies. As a result of this, it produces the followings:
- dust-collector with hose with blow cleaning
- Venturi system like scrubber and dust-collector
- vibration damper with steel string
- gas- dust- oil mist collector for workplace
- industrial incinerator equipments
The intensive market research was a big improvement towards the licenses and know-how purchase.
Our business opportunities were promising according to the wide variety of our products and specialized constructions. Our ventilators can be designed to work on -70°C - +600°C temperature range. The size range of the products is also vary in a wide range, like impeller diameter is from 120mm to 7000mm. The power consumption vary from 20W to 2MW, and the impeller weight can be even 10 tonnes. From the point of conveyed air, we can offer different solutions, like corrosion-proof, acid-proof, abrasive-resistant, or even explosion-proof ventilator designs.
The company is specialized also in wet dust-collector design and manufacture. On the field of dust-collectors, we cover mainly all the problems with our solutions. The dust-collectors and scrubbers are air handling devices that prevent the industrial based air pollution.

Produced equipments that are especially works for environmental protection purpose:
- filter with hose
- cyclones
- wet dust-collectors
- electrostatic dust-collector
- exhaust in workspace
- industrial incineration devices
- eco-friendly machines’ accessory items
- noise and sound absorbing elements
We built our network at this time also, and widen it with research places, engineer offices and also customers. We signed a long term cooperation contract with the following universities among many others: the Budapest University of Technology, the Sopron University of Forestry, Mihaly Pollack College from Pecs. Among the many international scientific and technical cooperation, our most significant partners were: England, Czechoslovakia, Poland and the Soviet Union. In the 70s the most important works were:
- design and manufacture of the dust-technology elements for the Gagarin Thermal Power Plant
- power plant ventilators for the Thermal Power Plant in Inota and Borsod and for the Soda Factory in Devna
- air- and dust-technique equipments for the Cement and Lime factory in Belapatfalva and Vac
- aero technical devices for the Cement factory in Saida, Algeria
- aero and dust-technique equipments for the Sludge Incinerator in Szombathely
- oil- and gas-cooling ventilators, and aero technical equipments for a Cellulose factory
- ventilators for the Alumina Factory in Obrovac
- climate ventilators for Western Germany
- environmental protection ventilators for England and Canada
- electro-filters for Eastern Germany
- transport ventilators to convey crop for the Agricultural Machinery Babolna and Szolnok
